In today’s world, Social Media is a must. There is actually no future without it. Business, in all forms, in every type of industry, has a social media presence. Why? This is simply because social media is used by billions of people! Facebook alone has 1.71 billion monthly active users. In 2018, it is estimated that active social media users will be at 2.5 billion. So, if these numbers are not convincing enough for you to present yourself online – specifically on social media – I don’t know what will.
What is the catch, and why is it important for you to be engaged on social media platforms? Hundreds of reasons – from simply being able to showcase your business online and its offers, to answering customers in a fast and transparent manner, and so much more. But, here are two core reasons you need your business to get engaged.
Exposure
This is one word that will tell it all – Exposure. What type of business doesn’t love promoting itself to billions of people, whether free or paid? The point is, social media allows your brand to be seen and noticed, without even trying hard. You can target specific types of audience and only endorse your products and services to those people attracted to what you have – no hard selling or wasted time on uninterested individuals. There is no need to target people who don’t fit the criterion. If you sell motorcycle parts, you can simply search for groups or trending topics about it and engage, either by commenting or posting; you still get exposure. That is one of the amazing powers of social media.

Relationships
The next thing on the list is relationships. The most fascinating thing about social media is you can connect with people, such as family, friends, colleagues, business associates, or even acquaintances. The same as establishing a business profile online, you can connect with your clients and vice versa. You can provide updates, promos, or anything you wish to inform them. And they get to connect with you easily. It allows them to ask questions, complain, compliment, or even offer you greater opportunities via messages or comments. Gone are the days where they physically have to be at your office just to inquire, making customer service very much lovable.
Social media may not be something your business cannot live without, but it is something you need for your business to grow and expand. Life, as we speak, is continuously improving with the help of technology, and if you don’t adapt, you will be left behind. The best option you have is to be up-to-date, because whether you like it or not, not having a social media presence for your business is never a good thing.
